Product Description
Anchor Flowers with Love – Embroidery Pattern ANC0003-121 by anaclara.bordou
Flowers with Love (Design No. ANC0003-121) is a free, downloadable PDF embroidery pattern designed by anaclara.bordou and published by Anchor (MEZ Needlecraft GmbH, 2021). Rated as a beginner level project, it guides stitchers through creating a charming botanical composition featuring daisies, leafy branches, and decorative floral shapes — all worked in Anchor Stranded Cotton on a beige cotton fabric ground. The finished piece is displayed in a 15 cm embroidery hoop, making it an ideal small-format project for those new to hand embroidery or looking for a relaxing, decorative make.
What Is Being Made
The design brings together several distinct floral and botanical elements stitched onto beige cotton fabric and presented within a 15 cm hoop. The composition includes:
- A filled decorative shape (Shape 01) worked in a warm tone
- A second filled shape (Shape 02) rendered in a contrasting colour
- A branch with seven leaves, combining two thread colours for visual variety
- Daisy flowers with stems, petals, leaves, and French knot centres
- A branch with three leaves and two decorative dot accents
Together, these elements create a cohesive, nature-inspired embroidery that works beautifully as wall art, a hoop display, or a decorative textile piece.
Materials Required
- Anchor Stranded Cotton 8m skeins in the following colours: #00355, #00390, #00894, and #01035
- Beige cotton fabric as the embroidery ground
- A 15 cm embroidery hoop with screw
- Embroidery needle, size No. 6–7
- Scissors
- A fabric pen (preferably heat- or water-erasable; the pattern references the Pilot Frixion Pen as a suitable option)
- A light board or window for tracing the printed pattern onto fabric
All embroidery is worked using 3 strands of Anchor Stranded Cotton throughout the design, which gives good coverage and a pleasingly textured finish on the beige fabric ground.
Stitches Used
This pattern is an excellent introduction to a wide range of classic hand embroidery stitches. The following techniques are all called upon within the design:
- Chain Stitch – used to fill Shape 01 with thread colour #00355, creating a solid, looped texture
- Stem Stitch – used extensively for stems throughout the composition, including the branch stem in #00894, daisy stems in #00355, and to fill Shape 02 in #01035
- Fishbone Stitch – used to embroider five of the seven leaves on the larger branch, worked in #00894; this stitch creates a realistic, herringbone-like leaf texture
- Satin Stitch – used for the daisy petals in #00390 and for the three-leaf branch leaves in #00894, laying smooth, parallel threads for a polished, filled appearance
- French Knot – used to stitch the centres of the daisy flowers in #00355 and to create the two decorative dots on the three-leaf branch in #01035
- Lazy Daisy Stitch – used to embroider the leaves along the daisy stems in #00355; this detached chain stitch creates delicate, petal-like leaf shapes
- Straight Stitch – listed among the stitches used in the pattern
- Split Stitch – listed among the stitches used in the pattern
