My husband & I only do Christmas gifts for the grandchildren and we don't give each other gifts either but this makes the Christmas tree look rather bare underneath. I thought it would be nice to have something to go around the bottom of the tree so I came up with the idea of knitting a Santa, his sleigh & his Reindeer. I found some patterns for Santa & Rudolph on Alan Dart's website... https://www.alandart.co.uk/ I just love his patterns. They are easy to follow, include some really cute characters and there's loads of variety. I used leftover wool from my stash and I plan to adapt the reindeer pattern to make each one a bit different. I'm also adding a nametag on each of their collars. I'm most pleased with how Santa came out. For his beard, hair & eyelashes, I used some leftover eyelash yarn & it looks really effective. I weighted his legs down with pennies so he stands up really well too. I just hope they all fit under the tree or I might have to buy a new one!
