Blackberries

A reversible textured pattern reminiscent of a bowl of blackberries is edged with simple garter bands in this long cowl. The garter border can be done in the same color as the center or in a contrasting color.

Gauge information: 18 stitches and 38 rows in 4” of textured pattern stitch; 18 stitches in 4” of garter stitch. You will probably need to use smaller needles to get the same gauge in garter. Gauge is not critical but will affect finished size and yardage needed.

Yardage details: If you use 2 colors, you will need 290 yards of the main color and 170 yards of the edging color.

If you want to be able to just use one 270 yard skein of the main color, you can cast on 12 fewer stitches and get a 50” cowl. A chart with estimated yardage for several different stitch counts is included (see last picture).
