Project Overview

Winter Storm Socks is a downloadable knitting pattern designed by TLCrafts and Design, inspired by Winter Storm Jonas of 2016. The designer created these socks to capture the visual beauty of falling snow and swirling flakes in a cozy, wearable form. This intermediate-level knitting project is suitable for knitters with foundational skills who are ready to tackle sock construction.

What Is Being Made

These are custom-fitted socks designed for everyday wear, available in three finished sizes to accommodate different foot measurements. The pattern includes directions for Small, Medium, and Large sizes, with finished foot circumferences of 7.50 inches, 8.50 inches, and 9.50 inches respectively.

Knitting Techniques

The Winter Storm Socks pattern employs fundamental sock-knitting techniques appropriate for intermediate knitters. The construction utilizes stockinette stitch as the primary fabric base, which creates a smooth, classic sock texture. The pattern incorporates increase techniques, including kfb (knit into the front and back of the next stitch) and pfb (purl into the front and back of the next stitch), which are essential for shaping the sock structure and achieving proper fit.

This 4-ply yarn weight offers durability and warmth while maintaining a lightweight, breathable quality ideal for socks. The nylon content adds strength and extends the lifespan of the finished socks.
