What Is Being Made

Wild Calling is a downloadable knitting pattern for an adult chunky knit hat designed by Cullison Design Studio. This intermediate-level project creates a cozy, oversized hat using super-chunky yarn and large needles, resulting in quick knitting and dramatic texture. The hat is available in three finished sizes to accommodate different head circumferences.

Knitting Techniques and Stitches

This pattern employs fundamental knitting techniques suitable for intermediate crafters. The hat is constructed using stitch patterns worked on US15/10mm needles, creating a gauge of 11 stitches by 19 rows over a 4" x 4" swatch. The chunky yarn weight means stitches are large and visible, allowing knitters to see their progress quickly. The pattern includes shaping and finishing techniques typical of hat construction, including the use of stitch markers to track pattern repeats and maintain consistency throughout the project.
