Verdigreen Asymmetrical Triangle Shawl by Nim Teasdale
What is Being Made
Verdigreen is a snuggly asymmetrical triangle shawl designed to showcase colour work and contrast between two complementary or contrasting yarn skeins. The finished sample measures 150x58cm (60x22 inches) after blocking, making it a versatile accessory piece suitable for layering or wrapping.
Design and Stitch Techniques
This intermediate-level knitting pattern features an unusual and dynamic stitch structure created through strategic layering of multiple knitting techniques. The filigree effect is achieved by alternating stripes of stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch, which are then overlaid with lines of slipped stitches and mini-cables. This combination creates an eye-catching textural pattern that draws visual interest across the shawl's surface.
The pattern is particularly effective at highlighting colour contrast, making it ideal for pairing two distinct yarn colours or weights. Knitters can experiment with solid yarns paired with speckled or gradient options for dynamic visual results.

Verdigreen is designed with flexibility in mind, accommodating yarn weights from heavy fingering to worsted weight. The pattern is adaptable to any yardage within this range, allowing knitters to customize the finished size according to available materials.
