Trenton the Turkey – Amigurumi Crochet Pattern
What is Being Made
Trenton the Turkey is a charming amigurumi toy designed by Little Green Bear. This adorable stuffed turkey character stands 11 inches tall when completed with the recommended materials. The pattern captures a playful farm scene, featuring a little gobbler who loves to strut around showing off his distinctive snood whilst foraging for food. Trenton is characterized as a fast runner who has managed to evade the farmer, making him a delightful and whimsical addition to any toy collection.
Craft and Technique
This is a crochet amigurumi pattern that uses the popular stuffed toy technique. Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting or knitting small, stuffed fabric toys. The pattern employs UK crochet terminology, which is essential to note for crafters accustomed to US terminology, as abbreviations and stitch definitions differ between the two systems. The project is rated at intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with some experience who are comfortable reading patterns and executing consistent stitching.
Stitches and Construction
While specific stitch-by-stitch details are referenced in the pattern abbreviations section (found on page 2 of the full PDF), the amigurumi technique typically involves working in continuous rounds using single crochet and other fundamental stitches to create three-dimensional shapes. The pattern uses stitch markers to help track the beginning of rounds, and a row counter is recommended to keep track of progress through the pattern sections. The toy is constructed from separate pieces that are then assembled and stuffed to create the finished character.
