Crochet your own Toadstool Fairy house. I based this fairy house on a night light that used be in my Nanna's house when I was a child. I loved imagining what went on in there and this is my very own version of that magical house.
The pattern uses US terminology. I have used light worsted yarn to crochet the Toadstool and a 3.5mm (E-4) hook. The pattern uses:- Magic ring Single Crochet Double Crochet Slip Stitch Crocheting in the round Chains
Due to small parts the finished item is not suitable for small children.
Items made with this pattern can be sold but credit must be given to me as the designer. The pattern itself can not be resold or copies made.
This downloadable crochet pattern by Christina Eady creates a charming toadstool fairy house—a decorative toy designed to delight craft enthusiasts and imaginative play. The finished piece features the iconic red and white spotted mushroom aesthetic, complete with a functional chimney detail. This intermediate-level crochet project is suitable for makers with some experience in basic crochet techniques and shaping.
The toadstool fairy house is constructed entirely using crochet, a fiber arts technique that creates fabric from a single active loop using a crochet hook. This pattern employs fundamental crochet methods to build three-dimensional forms through increases, decreases, and color changes. The designer incorporates strategic color blocking to achieve the distinctive toadstool appearance, requiring crafters to work with multiple yarn colors in sequence.
The pattern utilizes essential crochet stitches to construct the fairy house:
This pattern calls for acrylic light worsted weight yarn, also known as double knit (DK) yarn, in the following colors: red, white, dark brown, green, dark blue, and golden yellow. The designer notes that only small quantities of each color are needed, making 50-gram balls sufficient for completion. Additional materials include a 3.5mm crochet hook (size E-4), a pipe cleaner for constructing the chimney detail, a stitch marker for tracking progress, and polyester stuffing to add dimension and structure to the finished fairy house.
Designed by Christina Eady and copyrighted in 2012, this pattern is presented as a downloadable PDF format suitable for digital reference while crafting. The finished items made from this pattern are not recommended for young children due to small component parts, including the pipe cleaner chimney and stuffing. Crafters are welcome to sell finished toadstool fairy houses with proper credit given to Christina Eady as the original designer, though the pattern itself cannot be resold or redistributed.
