Product Description
This is a pattern for a fun vest, it can be worked with many different colour ways. I crocheted one with left over yarn where I used a base colour which I used every so often and used up a lot of left-over yarn and got a cute colourful vest. The other one is crocheted with 4 colours and explained in the pattern. It’s a perfect vest to wear over a long-sleeved shirt or in summertime with a top. The vest itself has a kind of arrow pattern as its worked with dc and spaces which gives an unique look.
Crochet basics should be known, also how to work a crochet border
To make it easier I used the term Space for the Chain Spaces. In the written pattern it will state, as an example, 4x spaces so you would work 4 spaces. 1 space consists of 2ch, jump over 2 st, (or space ch of prev. round) 1 dc, So 4 Spaces would be: ch2, jump over 2, 1 dc, ch2, jump over 2, 1 DC, ch2, jump over 2, 1 dc, ch2, jump over 2. 1 dc
The Fairy Vest by Karin Burkart
What is Being Made
The Fairy Vest is a versatile crochet vest designed by Karin Burkart that works beautifully as a layering piece over long-sleeved shirts or as a standalone summer garment. This intermediate-level pattern offers creative flexibility, allowing makers to work with either a multi-colored approach using four distinct yarn colors or a scrappy method utilizing leftover yarn in a base color with accent shades. The finished vest features a distinctive arrow pattern created through the strategic use of double crochet stitches and intentional spacing, giving the garment a unique visual texture and design element.
Sizes and Finished Measurements
The Fairy Vest is available in four size options:
- XS/S: Approximately 80 cm height, 108 cm length
- M/L: Approximately 84 cm height, 112 cm length
- XL/XXL: Approximately 88 cm height, 116 cm length
Crochet Techniques and Stitches Used
This pattern employs fundamental crochet techniques suitable for intermediate crafters. The primary construction method uses double crochet stitches combined with strategic spacing to create the signature arrow pattern that defines the vest's aesthetic. The pattern also incorporates single crochet stitches, chain stitches, and slip stitches for joining. The interplay between solid stitching and deliberate gaps produces the distinctive directional arrow motif that makes this vest visually striking.
