Product Description
A bisexual pride flag was designed to represent the bisexual community, which is often even more marginalized than lesbians and gays.
Previously I released a head/neckwear pattern for gender diversity, using color schemes for Transgender, Genderfluid and Nonbinary communities.
In this LGB Cowl series, I am celebrating the diverse communities of L (Lesbians), G (Gays), and B (Bisexuals).
The double-knit pattern will produce a reversible knitted cowl with mirrored images on both sides.

What is Being Made
The B Cowl is a reversible knitted cowl designed to celebrate the bisexual community through pride flag color representation. This neckwear piece features a double-knit construction that produces mirrored images on both sides, making it a versatile accessory that can be worn with either side facing outward. The cowl is available in two sizes: Adult Small with a finished circumference of 19 inches (48cm) and height of 8 inches (20cm), and Adult Large with a finished circumference of 25 inches (63cm) and the same 8-inch height.
Techniques Used
This pattern employs double knitting in the round as its primary technique. Double knitting is an advanced colorwork method that creates a reversible fabric with distinct patterns visible on both the front and back surfaces. By working in the round, the crafter maintains consistent tension and creates a seamless cylindrical form ideal for a cowl. This technique allows for the creation of mirrored images that appear on opposite sides of the finished piece, adding visual interest and functionality to the accessory.
Stitches and Construction
The pattern utilizes double-knit stitches worked in the round to build the cowl structure. The reversible nature of the double-knit technique means that the same stitching method creates two distinct visual sides, eliminating the need for separate finishing techniques or seaming. This construction method is ideal for pride-themed designs, as it allows the bisexual flag colors to display prominently on both surfaces of the cowl.
Materials
The suggested yarn for this project is Anzula Luxury Fibers Squishy, a 4-ply weight yarn composed of 80% Superwash Merino wool and 10% additional fibers. This yarn weight and fiber content provide excellent stitch definition necessary for the double-knit colorwork pattern while offering practical care properties through its superwash treatment. Appropriate knitting needles for 4-ply yarn and the specified gauge are required to complete this intermediate-level project.
Skill Level
Rated as intermediate difficulty, The B Cowl requires prior knitting experience, particularly with circular knitting and colorwork techniques. Crafters should be comfortable with double knitting before beginning this project, as this is the foundational skill needed to successfully execute the reversible pattern and achieve the mirrored design on both sides of the finished cowl.
