Product Description
A rare chance to come face to face with a family of dinosaurs known as Stripe-o-saurs.
Re-constructed from ancient DNA found trapped in amber and translated into an amigurumi pattern. Now with only a crochet hook, some colorful yarn and a bit of stuffing you can make your very own Jurassic Park. (No raptors here to spoil the fun either!)
This family of Stripe-o-saurs includes a Spike-o-saurus, Spine-o-saurus and Ruff-o-saurus
Pattern uses light worsted weight (DK/8 ply) yarn and a size C (2.75mm) Hook.
Each Stripe-o-saur measures approx. 7" long
This pattern is written in American crochet terminology and includes a handy stitch conversion chart so you can translate to British crochet terms instead should you wish to.
Stripe-o-saurs Amigurumi Dinosaur Pattern
What Is Being Made
Stripe-o-saurs is an amigurumi dinosaur toy pattern designed by Moji-Moji Design. This downloadable crochet pattern creates a stuffed dinosaur figure suitable for beginners. The project falls within the toys category and is ideal for crafters looking to create small, three-dimensional plush creatures using basic crochet techniques.
Craft and Primary Technique
This pattern is worked entirely in crochet, using American crochet terminology. The amigurumi construction method is employed, which is a Japanese technique for creating small, stuffed crocheted toys. Amigurumi projects are typically worked in continuous rounds to form compact, dimensional shapes that can be stuffed and shaped into recognizable figures.
Stitches Used
The Stripe-o-saurs pattern utilizes fundamental crochet stitches appropriate for beginners:
- Chain (ch) – the foundation stitch used to start the project
- Single crochet (sc) – the primary stitch for building the body and creating dense, tight fabric
- Double crochet (dc) – used for varied texture and structure within the design
- Slip stitch (slst) – employed to join rounds and finish off sections
- Invisible decrease (invdec) – a specialized decreasing technique specifically recommended for amigurumi work to create seamless shaping and maintain the toy's neat appearance
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Stripe-o-saurs pattern is designed to be worked with DK weight yarn, which is a lightweight yarn ideal for creating detailed, compact amigurumi pieces. The pattern includes measurements in both centimeters (cm) and inches (") to accommodate different measurement preferences. Appropriate crochet hooks for DK weight yarn will be required, though specific hook size recommendations would be detailed within the full pattern instructions.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated as beginner level, making it an excellent introduction to amigurumi construction. The use of basic stitches and straightforward techniques ensures that crafters new to crochet or amigurumi can successfully complete this dinosaur toy project.
Pattern Format
Stripe-o-saurs is available as a downloadable PDF, allowing immediate access to the complete pattern instructions for printing or digital reference while working on the project.
