Product Description
Simple and straightforward knitting with bold colour blocks and simple, pleasing lines – Simple!
You'll knit with the Ziggurat Method.
Simple begins with a cast-on for back and shoulders and is then knit all in one go from top to bottom with some little zigging and zagging, producing nicely tailored shoulders, a curved neckline, and a slightly fitted body with a little ease. The set-in sleeves are also knitted top-down and in the round. A rolling collar is knitted last. Not a seam in sight.
There is (optional) bust, waist and hip shaping which hints at curves but does not cling.
Shown in Fyberspates Faery Wings.

Simple Ziggurat Jubilæum Edition Knit Sweater
What Is Being Made
Simple Ziggurat Jubilæum Edition is a seamless knit sweater designed by Åsa Tricosa as part of the Jubilæum Collection. This pullover sweater features a tailored, fitted silhouette with optional shaping and is constructed entirely in one continuous piece from top to bottom, eliminating the need for seaming or joining multiple pieces together. The design offers customization options including choice of collar style, hem treatment, and the addition of a playful pocket detail.
Construction Technique
This sweater is knitted seamlessly using a top-down construction method. The garment begins with tailored shoulders, establishing a fitted foundation that carries through the body. Knitters can choose to include subtle shaping for a slightly fitted silhouette or omit the shaping entirely for a more relaxed fit. The one-piece construction means the entire sweater—from shoulders through the body to the hem—is worked continuously without breaking yarn or joining separate components, resulting in a garment with no seams.
Knitting Stitches and Techniques
While the PDF content does not specify individual stitch abbreviations, the construction method indicates the use of fundamental knitting techniques appropriate for sport weight yarn. The tailored shoulder shaping suggests the use of increases and decreases to achieve the fitted design. The seamless top-down approach typically employs circular knitting methods or short rows for shaping, allowing the knitter to try on the garment as it progresses and adjust fit accordingly.
Yarn and Materials
Simple Ziggurat Jubilæum Edition is designed for sport weight yarn, a lightweight yarn category that creates a refined drape suitable for fitted sweaters. The pattern encourages experimentation with different yarn choices, inviting knitters to explore various fibers and textures within the sport weight category to create their own unique interpretation of the design.
Sizing Information
The pattern offers an extensive size range accommodating various body measurements. Available sizes include 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48/50, and 52/54, with corresponding bust measurements ranging from 81 to 137 centimeters. The pattern recommends selecting size based on back shoulder width rather than bust measurement alone to ensure optimal fit of the tailored shoulders.
Skill Level
Simple Ziggurat Jubilæum Edition is rated as an intermediate difficulty pattern. This classification reflects the seamless top-down construction technique, tailored shaping, and the need to manage stitches across multiple sections simultaneously. Knitters should have solid foundational skills including comfort with circular needles, increases and decreases, and the ability to read pattern instructions and adjust fit during the knitting process.
