Selena slipper-socks are cozy footwear designed to be worn around the home. These knitted socks combine the comfort of traditional socks with a slipper-like feel, making them perfect for anyone who wants soft, cushioned foot coverage. The pattern is available in three sizes to fit feet measuring 23cm, 25cm, or 27cm (approximately 9, 10, or 10½ inches).
The Selena slipper-socks are constructed using several distinct knitting techniques that work together to create both visual interest and functional comfort:
This pattern employs fundamental knitting stitches suitable for intermediate-level knitters:
The Selena pattern is designed to be worked in 4ply yarn, specifically Patons Regal 4ply Cotton. This yarn weight produces a lightweight, breathable fabric ideal for slipper-socks that won't feel bulky on the feet.
Yarn quantities required: The pattern calls for four different colors in varying amounts depending on size. For size Small, knitters need 1 ball each of orange (C1), purple (C3), and white (C4), plus 1 ball of aqua (C2). For sizes Medium and Large, the aqua quantity increases to 2 balls. Each ball contains 50 grams and provides 165 meters of yarn. For those preferring a single-color version, 2 balls of yarn will be sufficient to complete one pair of slipper-socks.
Needles: The pattern is worked on a pair of 3.25mm knitting needles (UK size 10, US size 3/4). A wool needle is also required for sewing up the finished pieces.
Rated as Easy to Intermediate, the Selena pattern is accessible to knitters with some experience who are comfortable working with basic stitches and color changes. The recommended tension is 27 stitches and 34 rows to 10 centimeters (4 inches) over stocking stitch using 3.25mm needles, which helps ensure the finished socks fit properly and maintain their intended structure and drape.
These slipper-socks are described as soft and comfortable, designed to be worn regularly without the wearer wanting to remove them. The combination of ribbed cuffs, striped stocking stitch feet, and garter stitch soles creates both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. The multicolor striping adds visual interest while the garter stitch sole provides grip and durability for indoor wear.
