Rogatum Crochet Doilies by H. Toprak

What Is Being Made

Rogatum is a collection of crochet doilies designed by H. Toprak, an independent designer. This downloadable PDF pattern features multiple decorative doily designs suitable for table settings, home decorations, and rugs. The project includes seven distinct doily patterns labeled A through D in varying sizes, each with its own finished dimensions and complexity level.

Craft and Primary Technique

This project is created entirely using crochet, making it an ideal choice for crafters of all skill levels. The pattern is classified as beginner-friendly, meaning it uses fundamental crochet techniques that are accessible to those new to the craft. The modular design approach allows crafters to create individual doilies or combine multiple pieces for larger decorative projects.

Stitches and Techniques Used

The Rogatum pattern employs essential crochet stitches to achieve its decorative results. The instructions begin with chain stitches and double crochet stitches (US notation), which form the foundation of the design. The pattern uses chain stitches for height adjustment between rows, a standard technique for maintaining proper stitch alignment in crochet work. Double crochet stitches create the primary fabric structure, building the openwork patterns characteristic of traditional doilies.

Pattern Structure and Organization

The PDF is comprehensively organized with:

  • Seven doily designs (A1–A7, B1–B7, C1–C7, D1–D7) spread across pages 3–37
  • Detailed charts for each design to guide stitch placement and pattern progression
  • General instructions provided on page 2 for foundational techniques
  • Blocking and joining instructions on pages 38–39 for finishing and assembling multiple pieces
  • Finished size specifications and material requirements listed for each doily
  • Reference photos showing completed doilies with corresponding page numbers for easy navigation

Materials Required

While specific yarn weights and hook sizes are detailed within the pattern charts and materials section, crafters will need crochet yarn (type and weight specified per individual doily design) and an appropriately sized crochet hook to match their chosen yarn. The pattern includes finished size information to help select suitable materials for the desired final dimensions.

Finishing and Assembly

The Rogatum collection includes dedicated instructions for blocking the finished doilies to achieve professional results and proper shape definition. Additional joining instructions are provided for crafters who wish to connect multiple doily pieces together, enabling the creation of larger decorative pieces such as table runners, placemats, or larger rugs from the individual doily components.

Project Applications

These crochet doilies are versatile home décor elements suitable for:

  • Table settings and placemats
  • Decorative home accents
  • Rug projects when multiple pieces are joined
  • Gift-giving and personal crafting projects

Rogatum by H. Toprak is a 2019 design presented for personal, non-commercial use only.
