The shawl is worked from the top down, and is shaped by working an increase at both ends of every row.

Once the body of the shawl is complete, stitches are cast on for the border, which is worked across the bottom edge. The stitch patterns are presented in chart form only.

A Note on Blocking Pin out the top of the shawl first (in a straight line across the top). Then pull the bottom edge center of the shawl down and pin. Then start pinning out the rest of the bottom edge into a symmetrical curve, adjusting pins as you go.
