Product Description
This is the stole or wrap version of the Angel’s Triangles Shawl. It is named after Riana, co-owner of my favourite yarn shop – she has been an inspiration to me, and deserves having a design named in her honour. It can be made as a stole, or as a scarf, to any width you like. As made to the pattern when blocked the stole measures 40cm wide by 180cm long and uses 600m of yarn and the scarf measures 18cm wide by 160cm long and uses 200m of yarn. It is written in English and US crochet terms
Riana's Wrap by Agrarian Artisan
What is Being Made
Riana's Wrap is a versatile crocheted shawl design available in two configurations: a stole or a wrap version, and a scarf version. This pattern is based on the Angel's Triangles Shawl concept and is named after Riana, co-owner of a yarn shop who inspired the designer. The stole measures 40cm wide by 180cm long when blocked, while the scarf version measures 18cm wide by 160cm long when blocked. The width can be customized by adjusting the foundation chain length to suit individual preferences.
Techniques Used
This intermediate-level crochet project employs fundamental shawl construction techniques. The pattern begins with a foundation chain and builds outward using repeating stitch sequences. The design incorporates spacing techniques with chain stitches and missed stitches to create an open, lacy construction typical of wrap and shawl designs. The pattern is worked in rows and can be customized in width by modifying the initial foundation chain.
Stitches Used
Riana's Wrap utilizes a variety of crochet stitches to create its structure and drape:
- Chain stitch (ch) – forms the foundation and creates openwork spacing
- Double crochet (dc) – provides structure and definition
- Half treble stitch (htr) – adds texture and height variation
- Treble stitch (tr) – creates taller stitches for drape
- Double treble stitch (dtr) – provides maximum height for lacy sections
- Slip stitch (ss) – joins rounds or secures stitches
Materials
This pattern is designed to work with varied yarn weights, offering flexibility in material selection. A crochet hook appropriate to your chosen yarn weight is required. The downloadable PDF format includes both English and US crochet terminology versions, making it accessible to crocheters using different abbreviation conventions.
