Raglanpullover "93 km" Knitting Pattern
What is Being Made
The Raglanpullover "93 km" is a women's pullover sweater designed by Birgit Wedemeier in size 38/40. This intermediate-level knitting project features a classic raglan sleeve construction, where the sleeves are increased diagonally from the neckline down to the armholes, creating a distinctive seam line that runs from the neck to the underarm. The raglan style is a timeless design choice that offers comfortable fit and elegant proportions.
Techniques Used
This knitting pattern employs several key techniques suitable for intermediate knitters. The construction begins at the neckline and works downward, incorporating increases to shape the raglan sleeves and body simultaneously. The pattern utilizes a structured stitch pattern throughout the garment, which adds visual interest and texture to the finished piece. Knitters will need to be comfortable with increasing stitches strategically, reading pattern instructions, and maintaining consistent tension across color changes and stitch pattern sections.
Stitches Used
The sweater features a structured stitch pattern that forms the primary design element. The gauge for this pattern is 23 stitches measured over the structured stitch pattern, which is essential for achieving the correct finished dimensions. The pattern requires fundamental knitting stitches combined in a repeating motif to create texture and visual depth throughout the garment.
Materials
This pattern calls for Sandnes Garn "Duo" yarn, a blend of 55% Merino wool and 45% cotton. This fiber composition offers breathability and durability, making it suitable for a pullover sweater. The yarn has a yardage of 124 meters per 50 grams, classified as DK weight—a versatile medium weight ideal for structured garments.
The color palette consists of two shades: wollweiß (hvit) in color number 1002 and schlamm (moerk beige) in color number 2652. The pattern requires 2 balls of wollweiß and 8 balls of schlamm, totaling 10 balls of yarn for the complete sweater.
Essential tools include knitting needles in sizes 3.5 and 3.0, scissors, a measuring tape, a yarn needle for weaving in ends, and stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping points. The two needle sizes allow for ribbing or edge work at a tighter gauge while the larger needles accommodate the main stitch pattern.
Pattern Format
This is a downloadable PDF knitting pattern created by independent designer Birgit Wedemeier under the RINIKÄFER - DESIGN label. The pattern is presented in German and includes comprehensive instructions designed for clarity. The designer recommends reading through the entire pattern before beginning to gain a complete understanding of the construction sequence and shaping.
