Product Description
This pattern includes written instructions and a hand drawn chart. The peach version in the picture is made with a Whirl and the rainbow version with 1300 yards of Dreamers yarn. You can use any fingering weight yarn, I would advise you to use no less than 1000m. But you can also use much more to make it wider. If you want to make it longer, I would advise you to add multiples of 20 stitches to accomodate the lacy pattern (which is a multiple of 10) and add 1sc on each side of the border pattern each time you add 20 (the border pattern is a multiple of 9). I can help you with the math if necessary. Of course you can also use thicker yarn with a bigger hook. There are notes in the pattern about weighing your yarn to ensure you make the most of it. I have included 2 options, a simple one with 2 borders and another one with a repeat of the border in the middle of the shawl.
Peachy Sangria Crochet Shawl by Blue Lily
What Is Being Made
The Peachy Sangria is a crocheted shawl pattern designed by Blue Lily, available as a downloadable PDF. This beginner-friendly project offers creative flexibility with two distinct construction options: a version featuring borders at the top and bottom, or an alternative version with a repeat border band running through the middle of the shawl. The middle-band variation creates a slightly narrower finished shawl, allowing crafters to choose their preferred width and aesthetic.
Design Variations and Customization
The pattern accommodates various yarn options and creative approaches. Crafters using Scheepjes Whirl yarn can create a single-color shawl or explore striping effects by combining a Whirl with a Whirlette for the border bands. For those seeking a wider shawl, the pattern supports using two Whirls to create a mirror effect. The flexible yardage allowance means the shawl can be customized to different sizes depending on available yarn length.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This beginner-level crochet project incorporates lacy pattern work combined with structured border sections. The pattern features repeating stitch sequences that create an open, airy fabric typical of shawl construction. The combination of lacy elements with defined border bands demonstrates fundamental crochet techniques suitable for crafters new to the medium while still producing a sophisticated finished garment.
