Product Description
I know that you've seen these sort of Scandinavian Gnomes before, they are everywhere in the Christmas shops, and I LOVE them with their pulled down hats over their big noses. I love them so much that it just made me want to come up with my OWN version and so that's what I've done!
The top of my gnomes hat is completely poseable for you to twist it or put it in all sorts of different shapes (all by the way of a hidden pipe cleaner). It makes it a rather fun ornament to have on your shelf!
Nordic Twist Gnome Crochet Pattern
What Is Being Made
The Nordic Twist Gnome is a crocheted doll designed by Heather C Gibbs. This downloadable PDF pattern provides instructions for creating a decorative gnome figure, suitable as a handmade craft project or gift. The finished gnome represents an intermediate-level crochet project that combines traditional amigurumi techniques with Nordic-inspired design elements.
Craft and Techniques
This pattern uses crochet as the primary construction method. The project employs fundamental amigurumi techniques—the craft of creating three-dimensional stuffed toys and dolls through crochet. Crafters will work in continuous rounds to build the gnome's structure, shaping the body, head, and other components through strategic increases and decreases. The Nordic Twist design suggests the incorporation of textured or twisted stitch variations that add visual interest and dimensional detail to the finished doll.
Stitches and Construction
The pattern utilizes double crochet (dc) as a primary stitch, as indicated by the gauge specification of 5dc = 2cm. Standard amigurumi construction typically incorporates single crochet for tight, even fabric, with increases and decreases to shape the three-dimensional form. The Nordic Twist element likely introduces twisted or textured variations that distinguish this gnome from basic amigurumi patterns.
