Product Description
The Neith Top is a very oversized, drapey, lightweight sweater for the warmer months. With 8-9 inches of positive ease, this is a great layering garment that is so comfortable to wear.
If you wish to make this top with less positive ease, go down one size for a regular fit. The final garment measurements are as follows:
FINISHED BUST (cm/in):
XS (94, 37), S (104, 41), M (117, 46), L (127, 50), XL (138, 54), 2X (148, 58), 3X (158, 62), 4X (168, 66), 5X (178, 70)
It is very important to check your gauge for this pattern!
Yarn selected for this pattern should have good drape and works best with some rayon/bamboo/viscose content in order to achieve this.
Please note: size 5X is the only size yet untested. All other sizes have been thoroughly tested.

What is Being Made
The Neith Top is a crocheted sweater designed as an advanced beginner to easy-level project. This downloadable PDF pattern provides instructions for creating a fitted top garment available in nine sizes, ranging from XS (29 inches bust) through 4X (53 inches bust). The design accommodates various body measurements and is suitable for crafters with foundational crochet knowledge.
Crochet Techniques Used
The Neith Top employs fundamental crochet construction methods appropriate for intermediate-level makers. The pattern incorporates working in the round combined with back and forth rows, allowing crafters to build the garment using both circular and flat construction techniques. Seaming is required to join finished pieces together, making this an ideal project for developing assembly skills. Stitch markers are utilized throughout the pattern to track placement and maintain pattern accuracy during construction.
Stitches and Stitch Details
The pattern assumes knowledge of basic crochet stitches. While specific stitch abbreviations are not detailed in the provided materials, the advanced beginner difficulty level indicates the design uses fundamental stitches accessible to crafters with prior crochet experience rather than complex or decorative stitch patterns.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Neith Top requires DK weight yarn (also classified as #3 weight). The sample garment was created using 3.5 balls of Universal Yarn's "Bamboo Pop" in Graphite, a 50/50 bamboo and cotton blend yarn. Each ball contains 100 grams (3.5 ounces) and measures 266 meters or 292 yards.
Yarn yardage requirements vary by size: the XS size requires 839 meters (918 yards), while the 4X size requires 1,603 meters (1,753 yards). This range accommodates all nine available sizes with precise yardage calculations for each.
Alternative yarn options suggested by the designer include Lion Brand Coboo, Lion Brand Truboo, LB Collection Cotton Bamboo, Paton's Silk Bamboo, King Cole Bamboo Cotton DK, Premier Yarns Bamboo Fair, Omega Sinfonia Mercerized Cotton, Yarn Bee Caterina, and Yarn Bee Must Be Merino. These alternatives maintain similar fiber content and weight characteristics suitable for the pattern.
Tools and Notions Required
- Crochet hooks: J (6mm) and I (5.5mm) sizes for working with DK weight yarn
- Stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and construction points
- Tapestry needle for weaving in yarn ends and seaming pieces together
