Mikkel Selbu Mittens

These mittens pattern come in two sizes: approx. size 8-10 years, and women's size. They are knitted according to the Norwegian Selbu mitten tradition; two stranded in the round, with a gusseted thumb, and a flat, tapered tip. The mittens have a ribbed cuff, and a tesselating motif on the front of the hand.

This pattern is written and explained for dpns and shows the thumb stitches put on hold. Other methods may of course be used. There's a whole section of tips and explanations of techniques and stitches used, and a stitch-by-stitch guide for the beginning of the thumb.
