Through the changing colors the flowers come to the fore sometimes, and sometimes take a backseat. To make sure the pattern is not too unsettling it is reasonable to use a yarn with long color transitions. Use a new thread for every other row. Work with two balls of the same colors, but with different colors at the beginning. This way the pattern will evolve all by itself.
