Lyonesse

Lyonesse is a twisted rib and lace crescent, with textures and botanical elements evocative of other times & places, and an edging inspired by the genius of Herbert Niebling. The design begins with a minimalist crescent designed to sit flat at the nape and curve gently into an Art Deco yoke with a natural closure point for a shawl pin, then flow into widening leaves and an extravagant bloom of mesh at the outer edge.

The initial crescent can be worked to a range of sizes, then the shawl gradually widens as the leaves grow.

1. The design suits lace to sport weight yarn, of solid or gradient colouration.
2. Yardage requirements will vary with yarn weight & preferred tension - allow 650m for lace weight, or more for heavier yarn.
3. The pattern is charts only after chart 1.

Pictured shawl used 610m (665y) Mystic Yarn Works Enchant lace, on 2.25mm (US size 1) needles & measures 135x48cm (53x19in) after blocking. It shows the 3rd of the 5 sizes in the pattern, with more adaptability also possible.
