Lovebirds

Lovebirds make up a small genus of parrot with nine subspecies. These 'pocket parrots' are a favourite among pets and come in an assortment of colors, so any color scheme you might conjure up for your own knitted variation, might not be too far from the real thing! Only small amounts of yarns are needed, so a lovebird is a great project to use up any scraps you have lying around.These birds make great ornaments for your Christmas tree or Valentine’s Day gifts!

Two species are included in this pattern: the ROSY-FACED and YELLOW-COLLARED LOVEBIRD, they measure about 13 cm from head to tail and are a medium level project. It asks for some knitting in the round and flat, transferring stitches, intarsia color work and short rows. These lovebirds were knitted in Scheepjes Riverwashed (944) nile, (948) danube, (954) congo and (951) amazon, Scheepjes Soft Fun Denim (506) green and yellow (520) and Rowan Felted Tweed (145) treacle. Pipe cleaners are used for the (optional) legs.
