Product Description
Kawaii Queen has a lovely little outfit with all pieces removable.
I had no sparkly yarn for the hair so I sprayed it with spray adhesive and sprinkled blue glitter on it.
Most 3-9 year olds have heard of these Dolls and love them. You would be very popular if you made any of the outfits and doll.
Use the same ply yarn and hooks for the clothes as you id for the Basic Doll.
LOL (Inspired) Kawaii Queen Clothes by Leanna's Designs
What Is Being Made
This downloadable crochet pattern from Leanna's Designs creates a complete LOL-inspired doll with an interchangeable Kawaii Queen outfit. The pattern includes instructions for a basic doll body and head that serves as the foundation for multiple outfit variations, with the Kawaii Queen ensemble being one specific design option. The doll is designed to be customizable, allowing crafters to create different looks by changing outfit colors and styles while maintaining the same underlying doll structure.
Doll Construction and Design
The basic doll body uses a consistent pattern structure across all LOL-inspired variations in this collection. The design was created by Leanna Booth in January 2019 and is inspired by the popular LOL Surprise doll line. The pattern emphasizes that the core doll body remains the same across different outfit options, with outfit-specific instructions provided separately for each design variation.
Kawaii Queen Outfit Details
The Kawaii Queen outfit is a specific variation included in this pattern set. This outfit features a coordinated ensemble with a red skirt and top combination, dark pink shoes, and pale pink details for the mouth. The outfit is completed with dark blue or similar colored hair specific to the Kawaii Queen design. Small buttons are incorporated into both the skirt and top for decorative detail and structure, and turquoise ribbon is used as an accent element.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This advanced-level crochet pattern utilizes a range of fundamental and intermediate stitches to construct the doll and outfit pieces. The pattern uses US crochet terminology with UK equivalents provided in the abbreviations section.
- Double Crochet (Dc) – Listed as the primary building stitch, equivalent to single crochet in US terminology
- Half Treble (Htr) – Used for shaping and texture, equivalent to half double crochet in US terminology
- Treble (Tr) – Employed for creating height and drape in outfit pieces, equivalent to double crochet in US terminology
- Double Treble (Dtr) – Used for extended stitches where needed, equivalent to treble in US terminology
- Slip Stitch (SS) – Applied for joining rounds and creating seamless transitions between sections
- Decrease (Dec) – Utilized for shaping the doll's head, body, and outfit components
The pattern also incorporates place markers (PM) and move markers (MM) to help track stitch counts and round progression throughout the construction process. This is particularly important for maintaining proper shaping in the doll's three-dimensional form.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The pattern is worked in DK weight yarn (8ply), which provides an appropriate thickness for creating a detailed doll with good stitch definition. A 100g ball of flesh-colored DK yarn is required for the basic doll body and head. The designer notes that any yarn weight and crochet hook size can be substituted, as the final doll size is not critical to the pattern's success.
For the Kawaii Queen outfit specifically, small amounts of additional yarn colors are needed: red for the skirt and top, dark pink for the shoes, pale pink for mouth details, and dark blue or similar shade for the hair. Different outfit variations within this pattern collection may require different color combinations and yarn types.
Crochet Hooks
Three different crochet hook sizes are specified to accommodate various stitch densities and create appropriate proportions throughout the doll:
- Size 4mm (US 6, UK 8) – Primary hook for main body sections
- Size 3mm (US 3, UK 11) – For finer detail work and smaller components
- Size 2mm (US 2, UK 14) – For delicate features and precise finishing
Additional Materials
Beyond yarn and hooks, the pattern requires polyester fiberfill stuffing to create a firm, three-dimensional form for the doll's head and body. Small buttons are essential components for both the skirt and top of the Kawaii Queen outfit, providing both functional closures and visual embellishment. Turquoise ribbon is used as a finishing accent to complete the Kawaii Queen ensemble.
Skill Level
This pattern is rated as advanced difficulty, reflecting the multiple techniques required, the need to work with three different hook sizes, and the precision necessary to create a well-proport
