The Lida shawl draws inspiration from vintage femininity found in period drama costumes from the early twentieth century. The design features clean, tailored lines combined with delicate blossoming lace details, creating an understated yet elegant aesthetic that echoes the refined styling of pre-World War I and II eras.

What Is Being Made

The Lida is a triangular shawl with a finished wingspan of 55 inches and a depth of 27½ inches, making it a generous wrap suitable for layering over shoulders or wearing as a statement accessory. This downloadable knitting pattern is designed by independent designer Bristol Ivy and is rated as an advanced-level project.

Knitting Techniques Used

This shawl employs several intermediate to advanced knitting techniques that create its distinctive vintage-inspired appearance. The pattern incorporates lace work, which produces the delicate, open stitch patterns characteristic of the design. Cable stitches are featured throughout, including right cable crosses and left cable crosses, which add textural depth and visual interest to the garment.
