Laurentian Shawl by Eat.Wander.Crochet
What is Being Made
The Laurentian Shawl is an elegant, large crocheted shawl designed by Roxanne Wosu of Eat.Wander.Crochet. Inspired by the mountain landscape of the Laurentians in southern Quebec, Canada, this shawl captures the vibrant autumn aesthetic with its leaf-motif construction. The design features an all-over leaf pattern, making it both a decorative and functional accessory perfect for keeping warm during cooler months. This downloadable PDF pattern is suitable for intermediate-level crocheters.
Crochet Techniques and Construction
The Laurentian Shawl employs fundamental crochet techniques combined with intermediate-level skills. The pattern requires knowledge of basic stitches, increases, and decreases to construct the leaf elements that form the entire shawl. Crocheters will need to be comfortable reading stitch charts, as the pattern uses visual instructions to guide the placement and construction of each leaf motif. The structured approach to building leaves throughout the piece creates an intricate, textured final garment.
Stitches and Stitch Details
While the complete stitch list is detailed in the full pattern, the Laurentian Shawl utilizes standard US crochet terminology. The pattern incorporates basic stitches combined with strategic increases and decreases to shape and define each leaf. The use of stitch charts helps crocheters visualize how stitches build upon one another to create the dimensional leaf shapes that comprise the shawl's design.
