Product Description
Quick and easy pattern. It's an easy next step for a beginner, yet still interesting enough for an intermediate knitter.
I used a soft and cosy yarn from Schachenmayr. I picked this trendy mustard colour which inspired me to make this cowl. You can use any super chunky / super bulky yarn you like.
It is knittted flat on two needles and joined together at the rear.
Written in full, easy to follow instructions in English, with both British and American terms throughout.
Ladder Cowl by anrol
What is Being Made
The Ladder Cowl, also known as the Eternal Scarf, is a cozy neck accessory designed by anrol (Lorna Robson). This cowl is knitted flat and then joined together at the rear to create a continuous loop. With finished dimensions of 72cm (28 inches) in diameter and 30cm (12 inches) in length, it provides generous coverage for warmth and comfort during winter months. The design works equally well as a personal accessory or as a handmade gift.
Difficulty Level and Knitter Experience
While labeled as intermediate, the Ladder Cowl serves as an excellent next step for beginner knitters looking to expand their skills. The pattern features straightforward construction and easy-to-follow instructions, making it accessible to those new to knitting. At the same time, the design remains interesting enough to engage intermediate-level knitters seeking a quick project with visual appeal.
Knitting Techniques Used
This cowl is knitted flat on two needles, meaning you work back and forth in rows rather than in the round. The flat construction is then joined together at the rear to form the finished cowl shape. This technique simplifies the knitting process and eliminates the need for circular needles or more complex construction methods. The pattern knits up quickly, allowing you to complete the project in minimal time.
Stitches and Pattern Details
The pattern features a ladder stitch design that creates visual interest through its textured appearance. The full written instructions are provided in English with both British and American knitting terminology throughout, ensuring clarity for knitters regardless of their regional background.
Materials and Yarn Requirements
The Ladder Cowl requires 1 ball of super chunky or super bulky weight yarn weighing 200g (7 oz). The original design was created using Schachenmayr Bravo Big Originals in the Mustard colorway (00122). However, the pattern is versatile and works with any super chunky or super bulky yarn of your choice, allowing you to customize the cowl to match your preferred colors and textures. The soft and cosy nature of chunky yarns makes this weight ideal for creating a warm, comfortable garment that knits up rapidly.
Pattern Format
This is a downloadable PDF pattern designed by anrol and copyrighted in 2018 by Lorna Robson. The pattern is written in full with clear, easy-to-follow instructions suitable for both adult and large adult sizing.
