Medium size fits teenager to medium adult hands;
Large size fits a large adult hand.

Lace Hearts Fingerless Gloves by Sophie's Knit Stuff
What is Being Made
These fingerless gloves are a pair of knitted mittens featuring an elegant lace stacked hearts design. The pattern includes three different sizes to accommodate various hand sizes: Small (fitting children ages 7 to 12 years old), Medium (suitable for teenagers and medium adult hands), and Large (designed for large adult hands). The fingerless style makes them practical for activities requiring finger dexterity while keeping the hands and wrists warm.
Design Features
The standout feature of these fingerless gloves is the decorative lace stacked hearts motif that runs along the back of both hands, creating an attractive visual element. The palm side remains plain and unadorned, providing comfort and practicality. The bottom rib incorporates an original stitch pattern that echoes the heart theme, adding cohesive design detail to the cuff area. Since the hearts design appears only on the back of the hand, the right and left mittens are mirror images of each other, with separate instructions provided for each side.
Knitting Techniques Used
- Knitting in the round: The gloves are constructed using circular knitting methods, with options for either the magic loop technique or double-pointed needles
- Lace stitches: Decorative openwork stitches create the stacked hearts pattern
- Increases and decreases: Shaping techniques are used throughout the pattern, particularly on increase rows, to achieve proper fit and structure
- Ribbing: An original heart-inspired rib stitch forms the cuff at the bottom of each glove
Yarn and Materials
This pattern is designed for DK weight yarn, a medium-weight option that works well for creating defined lace stitches and a comfortable, wearable fabric. Knitters will need either double-pointed needles or circular needles suitable for the magic loop method, depending on their preferred technique for working in the round.
Skill Level
Rated as intermediate difficulty, this pattern is suitable for knitters with some experience. While described as fairly easy to knit, the inclusion of lace stitches, increases, decreases, and working in the round requires competency beyond beginner level. The pattern's clear instructions for mirrored left and right hands demonstrate thoughtful design for intermediate-level crafters.
Pattern Format
This is a downloadable PDF pattern designed by Sophie Le Cuiche and published by Sophie's Knit Stuff in 2021. The pattern includes both English and French versions, making it accessible to a broader audience of knitters.
