This was really good, and for an addition to a bag that I had bought.

Product Description
This is a multi use pouch but great for using in your bag for coins. Use it for tea bags, gifts or add a key chain. Make with bigger needles for a soap pouch, playing cards, credit cards and ID. Make it without lace for a toothfairy pouch, jewelry pouch, stitch markers, sewing kit, thumb drives, lip balm or collected shells when you visit the beach.
This is a great yarn stash buster. You can use almost any yarn but I used a cotton one for the samples. There are several techniques that you might not have seen before that I wrote out so you will learn some something new and come out of it quickly becoming intermediate level if you aren't already. This is actually quick and fun and a little challenging for that extra 'fun factor'.
Knitted Lace Coin Pouch by DeeAnn H
Project Overview
This downloadable knitting pattern creates a delicate lace coin pouch, a small accessory project ideal for storing coins, jewelry, or other small items. The pouch is constructed using the in-the-round knitting method, beginning from the bottom and working upward to create a finished, seamless garment.
What Is Being Made
A knitted coin pouch featuring lace detailing, designed as a practical yet decorative storage accessory. The pouch is worked in the round using circular needles, creating a seamless construction that eliminates the need for seaming. The finished piece combines functionality with the aesthetic appeal of lace patterning.
Knitting Techniques Used
- In-the-Round Construction: The pouch is worked circularly using the two-needle method, where stitches are divided between two circular needles to create a tube without seams.
- Figure 8 Cast On: A specialized cast-on method used to establish the initial 24 stitches at the bottom of the pouch, creating a secure foundation.
- Knit Through the Back Loop: Stitches are worked through the back loop using both the working yarn and the tail together, which streamlines finishing by eliminating the need to weave in ends separately.
- Lace Patterning: The design incorporates lace elements, which typically involve yarn overs and decreases to create openwork sections that add visual interest and texture.
Stitches and Stitch Details
- Cast-On Stitches: 24 stitches total, divided evenly with 12 stitches on each circular needle.
- Knit Stitch: The primary stitch used throughout the construction of the pouch.
- Lace Stitches: While specific lace stitch patterns are not detailed in the provided instructions excerpt, the pouch design incorporates lace elements characteristic of openwork knitting.
Materials and Tools
- Yarn Weight: Worsted weight yarn, a medium-weight yarn that works up at a moderate gauge and is suitable for creating defined stitch definition in lace patterns.
- Needles: Size 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles in a 32-inch length, used for working stitches in the round.
- Gauge: 17 stitches and 25 rows measured over 4 inches in stockinette stitch, providing a reference for yarn and needle substitutions.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty. Knitters should be comfortable with circular needle techniques, in-the-round construction, and lace knitting fundamentals before beginning this project. The specialized cast-on method and the coordination required for working with two needles simultaneously add moderate complexity to the pattern.
Pattern Format
This pattern is provided as a downloadable PDF file, allowing crafters to access the complete instructions digitally and print them as needed for reference during the knitting process.
