Product Description
KEELA is a fab jacket design worked in Felted Tweed Aran from Marie's WINTER CROCHET collection. The resulting garment is quite heavy and therefore only suitable for outdoor wear. One of the colours is actually two ends of normal Felted Tweed worked together as unfortunately a lot of the original colours of the Felted Tweed Aran range have been discontinued by Rowan. Fastened with a pin or a brooch, the ‘throw on’ style makes this design very wearable.

Keela Jacket by Marie Wallin
What is Being Made
The Keela Jacket is a structured crochet cardigan designed by Marie Wallin, featured in the Winter Crochet collection. This intermediate-level project creates a fitted jacket suitable for everyday wear, available in three size ranges: S-M (to fit bust 81-97 cm / 32-38 in), L-XL (to fit bust 102-117 cm / 40-46 in), and XXL (to fit bust 122-127 cm / 48-50 in). The finished garment measures 64 cm (25 in), 74.5 cm (29½ in), or 82.5 cm (32½ in) in width depending on size selected.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This pattern employs intermediate crochet techniques centered around a distinctive stitch pattern. The primary stitch used is the cluster stitch, which is constructed by working yarn over and inserting the hook as indicated, then drawing the yarn through multiple times until 9 loops are on the hook, followed by drawing yarn through 8 loops to complete the cluster. The pattern also incorporates treble stitches (tr) and chain stitches (ch), which form the foundation and structural elements of the design.
The garment is worked using a repeating pattern sequence that alternates clusters with chain spaces, creating texture and visual interest throughout the jacket. The pattern instructions specify working from a hem edge upward, with specific stitch placement and spacing detailed in the row-by-row instructions.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Keela Jacket is designed to be worked in Rowan Felted Tweed Aran yarn, a medium-weight aran yarn. The pattern requires a 4.50mm (US 7) crochet hook and specifies a tension of 15 stitches and 6½ rows to 10 cm measured over pattern using the recommended hook size.
The yarn palette consists of four complementary colors from the Rowan Felted Tweed Aran range:
- Yarn A – Carbon 759: The main color, requiring 14 x 50gm (S-M), 17 x 50gm (L-XL), or 19 x 50gm (XXL)
- Yarn B – Delft 194: An accent color used double throughout, requiring 4 x 50gm (S-M and L-XL) or 5 x 50gm (XXL)
- Yarn C – Granite 719: A secondary color, requiring 8 x 50gm (S-M and L-XL) or 10 x 50gm (XXL)
- Yarn D – Scree 765: A highlight color, requiring 2 x 50gm (S-M), 3 x 50gm (L-XL), or 3 x 50gm (XXL)
The pattern specifically notes that Felted Tweed Delft should be used double throughout the project, which affects the yardage calculations and final appearance of the garment.
