Jeep Christmas Hat by Paula Marie Designs
What is Being Made
The Jeep Christmas Hat is a festive knit hat featuring a winter-themed design with jeeps driving through snow, Christmas trees, and falling snowflakes. This downloadable knitting pattern from independent designer Paula Marie Designs offers a charming holiday accessory suitable for the entire family, with four size options to accommodate babies, children, and adults.
Knitting Technique and Construction
This hat is constructed using the knit in the round method, worked from the bottom up. The design employs fair Isle stranded knitting, a traditional colorwork technique that creates intricate patterns by carrying multiple yarn colors across rows. To simplify the knitting process, the pattern uses only two colors at a time, making it more manageable for intermediate-level knitters. The float lengths—the strands of yarn carried across the back of the work—are kept to less than eight stitches, which prevents excessively long floats that can snag or create loose areas in the finished hat.
Stitches Used
The pattern incorporates decrease stitches to shape the crown of the hat as stitches are reduced toward the top. These decreases work in conjunction with the fair Isle colorwork to maintain pattern integrity while creating the proper hat silhouette.
Materials and Yarn Weight
This pattern calls for worsted weight yarn in four colors:
- MC (Main Color): Blue
- CC-1 (Contrast Color 1): White
- CC-2 (Contrast Color 2): Red
- CC-3 (Contrast Color 3): Green
The pattern recommends worsted weight yarn and specifies the example yarn used: Malabrigo Rios in Aquamarine (blue), Natural (white), Ravelry Red, and Solis (green). Standard knitting needles appropriate for worsted weight yarn in the round are required.

The Jeep Christmas Hat pattern is available in four sizes to fit different age groups and head measurements:

- Adult: 18 inches (46 cm) circumference × 9 inches (23 cm) tall
- Adult XL: 20 inches (51 cm) circumference × 9 inches (23 cm) tall
