Product Description

Harmony Cushion combines my love of simple designs and symmetry. A very quick make which can be added to any type of home decor. It is perfect for both enthusiastic beginners and seasoned crocheters.

You will be needing a 14inch x14inch cushion insert if you make it using the same tension as me. I have mentioned the one I have used in the pattern. Alternatively, you may use any yarn and hook of your choice to get the desired finished size.

This is my first ever pattern and I have poured lots of love into it. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I did and cherish it for good times ahead.

What Is Being Made

The Harmony Cushion is a crocheted cushion cover designed to fit a 35cm/14 inch square cushion pad. This is an ideal beginner-friendly project that produces a finished decorative cushion cover suitable for home décor applications.

Craft and Technique Overview

This pattern is created using the crochet technique, a fiber craft that uses a single hook to form interlocking loops of yarn. Crochet is known for its versatility and relative ease of learning, making it an excellent choice for beginners embarking on their first projects. The Harmony Cushion demonstrates fundamental crochet skills while producing a practical, finished home accessory.

Stitches Used

The primary stitch used in this pattern is DC (Double Crochet), which in UK crochet terminology is equivalent to US Single Crochet (SC). The pattern instructions frequently reference working DC into multiple consecutive stitches, such as "33DC," which means working a double crochet stitch into the next 33 stitches in sequence. The pattern also employs YO (Yarn Over) techniques as part of the foundational crochet mechanics.

Materials Required

  • Yarn: Approximately 150 grams of DK (Double Knit) weight yarn in any color and brand. Recommended yarns include Stylecraft Special DK, Paintbox Yarns Simply DK, or Hayfield Bonus DK (the designer used Hayfield Bonus DK in the peaches shade)
  • Hook: 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Additional Supplies: 35cm/14 inch square cushion pad, darning needle for finishing, and scissors

Tension and Gauge

The recommended tension for this pattern is 19 stitches and 22 rows of DC in a 10cm x 10cm square swatch. Achieving proper gauge ensures that the finished cushion cover will fit the specified 35cm/14 inch cushion pad correctly.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is classified as beginner level, making it an accessible project for those new to crochet or those seeking a straightforward, satisfying make. The use of basic double crochet stitches and straightforward construction methods keeps the pattern approachable while still producing a polished finished item.

Pattern Notes

The pattern is written using UK crochet terminology. Crocheters accustomed to US terminology should note that UK DC equals US SC. The designer, Muskrosescrochet, welcomes questions and offers support via Instagram or email for pattern clarification.
