Product Description

The Global Nomad Cowl is a great little accessory for wearing everywhere from music festivals to the weekend farmers’ market. It’s a light and airy cowl for those slightly cooler trans-seasonal days.

You can create some eye catching colour-block combinations to jazz up any outfit. The small size is perfect for using up small amounts of sock yarn and the large size isn’t too bad at that either.

The cowl is knit in the round and uses one very simple lace stitch to create a stylish accessory that is simple to knit.

Yarn Requirements:Small Size Approximately 3 x 20g or 72m/80yards of sock yarn in 3 different colours. In total approximately 60g or 216m/240 yards of sock yarn. What is Being Made

The Global Nomad Cowl is a light and airy knitted cowl designed as a versatile accessory for trans-seasonal wear. This small-sized cowl is perfect for layering during slightly cooler weather and works well for casual occasions ranging from music festivals to weekend farmers' markets. The design accommodates color-block combinations, allowing knitters to create eye-catching visual effects by working with multiple yarn colors throughout the project.

Craft and Primary Technique

This is an advanced-level knitting project designed by independent designer Helen Stewart. The cowl is created using knitting techniques suitable for experienced crafters looking to expand their accessory-making skills. The light and airy construction suggests the use of lace or openwork stitch patterns that create breathability while maintaining the cowl's structural integrity.

Stitches and Stitch Work

While specific stitch names are not fully detailed in the available pattern content, the cowl's light and airy character indicates the use of lace stitches or similar openwork techniques. The pattern supports color-blocking, which requires careful yarn management and potentially techniques such as stranded colorwork or strategic color changes to achieve distinct color blocks within the design.

Materials

  • Yarn: The pattern works with small amounts of sock yarn, making it an efficient project for stash use or experimenting with multiple yarn colors
  • Needles: Knitting needles appropriate for sock-weight yarn (specific needle size details are referenced in the full pattern)

Design Features

The Global Nomad Cowl's small size makes it practical for creating multiple versions or experimenting with different color combinations without requiring large yarn quantities. This makes it an excellent project for knitters interested in portable, quick-to-complete accessories.
