French or Knot

French knots are so much fun... but not to make, for some of us. Why not try an easy way to get similar texture in crochet?

French or Knot is a medium sized purse with a textured central panel and subtle shaping worked flat with seamed sides. “French knot” looking texture is achieved simply by chain-spaces locked between the single crochet stitches.

When half of the bag is made, work is turned upside down, yarn is joined to the starting chain again, and work continues until the other half is finished - this way the texture looks the same at both sides of the purse.
