Fishtown Cowl

Fishtown Cowl is a stranded colorwork cowl featuring bold fish skeleton motifs that make a striking centerpiece. Knit in fingering-weight yarn, it’s playful, graphic, and a fun way to explore high-contrast color pairings. The design takes its name from Philadelphia’s creative Fishtown neighborhood, but the real inspiration came from the electric blue shade of KAOS Luxury Soft Merino, which instantly reminded me of fish and the clean, graphic lines found in Scandinavian design traditions.

A DK-weight version has now been added, created to support a class I’ll be teaching on stranded colorwork. The DK version uses the same motif and structure but is worked at a slightly larger gauge, making it an excellent option for learning colorwork techniques

while creating a cozy, approachable project.
