Fire Square Crochet Cushion Pattern by LillaBjörnCrochet
What Is Being Made
Fire Square is an original crochet design by LillaBjörnCrochet (designer Tatsiana Kupryianchyk) that creates an ornamental square motif with traditional aesthetic qualities. The pattern is designed as a cushion or pillow cover project. Individual Fire Squares can be used separately for a single pillow cover, or multiple squares can be joined together to create larger decorative pieces. This versatile design carries traditional ornamental qualities often associated with festive seasonal décor.
Craft and Techniques
Fire Square is executed using the crochet technique, a fiber craft that uses a single hooked tool to create interlocking loops of yarn. The pattern is classified as intermediate difficulty, making it suitable for crocheters with some experience beyond basic skills. The design develops through a series of rounds worked from the center outward, a common construction method for motif-based projects. The pattern instructions guide you through gauge establishment and round-by-round construction to achieve the finished ornamental square.
Stitches and Construction
While specific stitch names are not detailed in the provided pattern excerpt, Fire Square employs traditional crochet stitching techniques typical of ornamental square motifs. The pattern is worked in rounds, with the design developing progressively from the center. Proper gauge is essential to the project's success, and the pattern specifies checking your gauge after completing the first 5 rounds to ensure your finished square meets the intended dimensions.

- Crochet Hook: 4 mm (size G) or the size needed to achieve proper gauge
- Yarn Weight Classification: Sport weight (12 wpi), a lightweight yarn suitable for creating defined stitch definition and delicate ornamental details
Pattern Format and Use
