Product Description
This is my original design that I created for my kids, based on the children’s board book “Feminist Baby” by Loryn Brantz. This pattern is purely fan art (flattery in its highest form), and is in no way associated with the author or publisher of the book.
This is a pretty straightforward project to crochet with a few fancier stitches in the fingers and toes, which is why I’ve placed it in the “intermediate” category. It’s also a great stash buster since it only takes partial skeins of yarn (about half of a 3.5-oz skein of beige, and even less of white). The finished doll is about 10” (25.4 cm) long, from head to toe.
I crocheted her with 3 mm hook, but a 3.25 mm (D) hook would work just as well.
Feminist Baby Stuffed Toy Crochet Pattern
What is Being Made
The Feminist Baby is an original crochet stuffed doll pattern designed by Amber Romano, inspired by the children's board book "Feminist Baby" by Loryn Brantz. This intermediate-level project creates a soft, huggable toy suitable for children, grandchildren, or as a gift for new babies. The pattern is fan art celebrating the beloved children's book and makes an excellent handmade gift option for families who appreciate the book's message.
Crochet Techniques and Stitches
This crochet pattern incorporates a range of techniques appropriate for intermediate crafters. While the overall project follows straightforward construction methods, it features fancier stitches in the fingers and toes, adding visual interest and detail to the finished doll. These specialized stitch techniques elevate the project from beginner to intermediate difficulty, allowing crafters to practice and develop their stitch repertoire while creating a charming toy.
Materials and Yarn Specifications
The Feminist Baby pattern is designed to work with aran and worsted weight yarns, making it accessible for crafters with various yarn stashes. This project is an excellent stash buster, requiring only partial skeins of yarn rather than full balls or skeins, making it economical and perfect for using up leftover yarn from other projects. A crochet hook appropriate for your chosen yarn weight will be needed to complete the doll.
Pattern Details and Finished Project
This downloadable PDF pattern provides complete instructions for creating your own Feminist Baby doll. The pattern is presented across 9 pages of detailed guidance. Crafters who complete this project are welcome to sell finished items made using this pattern, provided appropriate credit is given to designer Amber Romano. The finished toy makes a meaningful handmade gift that celebrates both the joy of crochet and the empowering message of the original children's book.
