Product Description
"I'm feelin twenty twoooo ooo" (lyrics from Taylor Swift). I have loved this song since it debuted. This year I'm turning 29 and I wanted to celebrate! This sock is a little party in the front and simple in the back. A basic and easy to memorize lace pattern on the front and a mistake ribbing on the back.
This pattern is so simple that lots of dye styles look great and will shine. Do you need a new pair of birthday socks?

Feelin 29 Socks by All Knit Up Designs
What is Being Made
Feelin 29 is a downloadable knitting pattern for a pair of socks designed by Sierra Kreun of All Knit Up Designs. This intermediate-level sock pattern is engineered to showcase stitch definition and works beautifully with variegated or speckled yarns that complement the stitch pattern. The design offers three size options to accommodate different foot measurements.
Sock Sizes and Finished Dimensions
The pattern includes three sizes:
- Small (S): 56 stitches
- Medium (M): 64 stitches
- Large (L): 72 stitches
Knitting Techniques Used
Feelin 29 employs classic sock construction techniques suited for intermediate knitters. The pattern features a Modified Eye of Partridge Heel Flap, a structured heel construction that creates durability and a traditional sock appearance. The sock is completed with a Wedge Toe, a common toe shaping method that gradually decreases stitches to close the toe end. The designer notes that this pattern works well with various yarn dye styles, making it adaptable to different aesthetic preferences.
Stitches and Stitch Pattern
The primary stitch used throughout most of the sock is stockinette stitch, which creates a smooth, classic fabric. The heel flap uses the Modified Eye of Partridge technique, a textured stitch pattern that adds grip and durability to the heel area where socks experience the most wear. The toe utilizes wedge decreases to shape the foot closure.
Yarn and Materials
The pattern calls for 463 yards (423 meters) of fingering weight yarn. The recommended yarn is Machete Shoppe Simple Sock, a 100-gram skein composed of 75% Superwash Merino and 25% Nylon. This fiber blend provides softness, breathability, and durability for everyday wear. The nylon content adds strength to prevent premature wear in high-friction areas.
Needles and Tools
Feelin 29 is worked on US 1.5 (2.5mm) needles. The pattern is flexible regarding needle style—knitters can choose their preferred sock knitting method, including double-pointed needles (DPNs), Magic Loop technique on a long circular needle, 9-inch circular needles, or two circular needles. This flexibility allows knitters to use whichever method they find most comfortable.
Additional notions required include two different stitch markers (one each for sections A and B) to track pattern repeats, and a darning needle for grafting the toe using Kitchener stitch and weaving in yarn ends.
Gauge
The pattern is worked at a gauge of 17 stitches by 24 rows over 2 inches (5 centimeters) in stockinette stitch. Achieving proper gauge is essential for obtaining the correct finished sock size and fit.
Skill Level
Feelin 29 is rated as an intermediate difficulty pattern, making it suitable for knitters who have completed basic sock projects and are comfortable with techniques such as working in the round, heel flap construction, and toe grafting.
