DunBroch

DunBroch is a magical kingdom, that lies in the Scottish Highlands. This enchanting place is the home of Princess Merida, a girl who most definitely knows her own mind.

I designed these socks for a young lady who is much like Merida. She is bravely making her way in the big, scary world and is living not too far from where Merida lived.

I wanted this design to reflect the feel of Scotland, and also the strength and determination needed to succeed in life.

The socks feature a twisted panel down the outside of each leg, which is surrounded by a beautifully cosy texture pattern. Although the design appears intricate, it is straightforward to knit and easy to memorise.

The socks come in 3 sizes, and have both written and charted intstructions. The instructions are written using the magic loop method, but other methods can be used.

I used one skein of fingering weight yarn, that I dyed myself. I would recommend a tonal/semi solid to best show off the design.
