Wollmeise Wollmeise Merino DK - Blue

Product Description
The unisex pattern for the Delta Connection cowl provides two chart types: the multi-coloured and the two-colour version.
It is tested for sport and DK weight yarn with the same stitch and row number. This is no problem for fitting. Although the DK cowl is larger than normal, it is also thicker and needs more space to be worn doubled around the neck. By using a delicate Sport weight yarn like Wollmeise Blend (knitted with needle size 3.5 - 3.75 mm) you get finer stitches for an elegant look.
The cowl is worked in rounds. For an identical look of the border edges a provisional crochet cast-on is used. The special slip stitch pattern gives a fluffy, squishy feel and the smooth i-cord edging stays in shape well. The pattern - a mixture of charted and written instructions - looks complex but in fact only every fourth row requires concentration.

Delta Connection Cowl by Wega
What is Being Made
The Delta Connection is a knitted cowl designed by Wega, an independent designer. This project creates a versatile neck accessory that can be worn as a cozy, warm wrap. The finished cowl measures approximately 22–26 cm in width and 104–116 cm in length, depending on the yarn choice, making it suitable for multiple wraps around the neck or draping styles.
Design Versatility
The pattern is intentionally designed to accommodate creative yarn choices. Crafters can create a classical two-colour combination in their favourite shades, or use this project as an excellent way to use up leftover yarns to produce a unique multi-coloured version. The slip stitch pattern creates visual interest while delivering a warm, squishy tactile quality.
Knitting Techniques and Stitches
The Delta Connection employs a special slip stitch pattern as its foundation technique, which creates the distinctive textured appearance and comfortable feel of the finished cowl. The pattern requires intermediate knitting skills and involves three key techniques:
- Provisional cast-on: Used to set up stitches in a temporary manner, allowing for seamless finishing
- Slip stitches: The primary stitch pattern that forms the visual and textural character of the cowl
- I-Cord bind-off: A decorative and durable finishing technique that creates a neat, professional edge
Yarn and Materials
The pattern is written for DK weight yarn and provides specific yardage and weight requirements depending on the chosen yarn base. Recommended yarns include FairAlpaka DK, Wollmeise DK, and Wollmeise Blend.
Yarn Requirements by Option:
- FairAlpaka DK (two-colour): Main Colour 120 g, Contrast Colour 110 g
- Wollmeise DK (six-colour): Main Colour 110 g, with 5 additional colours at approximately 25 g each
- Wollmeise Blend with Contrast Border: Main Colour 50 g, Contrast Colour 90 g
- General DK Yarn: Main Colour 240 metres, Contrast Colour 210 metres
Needles: Circular needle in 4.00 mm (US 6) size, or as needed to obtain proper gauge with your chosen yarn.
Skill Level
Rated as easy to intermediate, the Delta Connection is accessible to knitters with basic skills who are ready to expand their technique repertoire. The provisional cast-on and I-Cord bind-off techniques add a layer of sophistication while remaining achievable for developing knitters.
