Product Description
This is a PDF downloaded pattern for a Crochet daisy style flower, when completed it will look lovely standing in its pot and is a perfect gift as zero maintenance is required to keep it looking fresh.
I used a 10g scheepjes catona ball of yellow gold and a little of snow white for the petals, also a little of emerald for the stalk.
Finished design measures 16cm (flower head measures 7cm) when stood in pot using a 3mm hook.
Toy stuffing and safety eyes were used for the flower head, along with a stick wrapped in green yarn, foam sheet leaves and a clay pot with air dry clay to place the finished flower in, the pot is optional but you will need something to hold the flower in as it will not stand on its own.
Daisy Flower Crochet Decoration by Katherine Sloggett
What is Being Made
This project creates a charming crocheted daisy flower decoration designed as a standalone craft piece or embellished ornament. The daisy features dimensional petals worked in bright yellow and white, with green accents for leaves or stems, and is finished with a sweet face using safety eyes and embroidered details. The completed flower can be displayed in a small terracotta pot using air dry clay as a base, making it an ideal spring decoration for shelves, desks, or seasonal displays.
Crochet Techniques Used
This intermediate-level crochet project employs fundamental shaping techniques to create the flower's three-dimensional form. The pattern uses the magic loop method to begin work in the round, a technique that creates a tight, seamless center point ideal for circular motifs. The flower is constructed using increases worked in established rounds, where stitches are strategically placed to expand the piece outward in a controlled manner. This incremental increase method—working single stitches between increases and gradually spacing them further apart—creates the natural curve and dimension of flower petals.
Stitches and Stitch Patterns
The pattern relies primarily on double crochet (dc) stitches worked in continuous rounds. The construction follows a mathematical increase pattern across six rounds: beginning with 6 stitches in the magic loop, then doubling to 12 stitches in Round 2, and continuing with strategic increases that add 6 stitches per round (18, 24, and 30 stitches respectively). This structured approach to increases creates an evenly expanding circular base that forms the foundation of the flower shape. The pattern specifies UK crochet terminology, where double crochet refers to what is known as single crochet in US terminology.
Materials and Yarn
The daisy is worked using Scheepjes Catona yarn in three colorways: Yellow Gold and Snow White as the primary colors (10g each), with a small amount of Emerald for accent details. Scheepjes Catona is a 4-ply mercerized cotton yarn, though the pattern accommodates both 3-ply and 4-ply yarn weights. A 3.0mm crochet hook is used to work the yarn to the specified tension, which measures 6cm across after 7 rounds. The finished flower is stuffed with soft toy filling to create dimension and shape, then mounted on a 6-inch lollipop stick inserted into a 5cm terracotta pot. The base is secured with air dry clay, optionally covered with green felt roving for a natural appearance. Additional embellishments include 12mm black safety eyes, black yarn or thread for embroidering a mouth, and green felt or foam sheet for leaves or stem details.
