Product Description

This stocking cap is knit in the round to form the bottom band, then split to form the body and the ribbed tabs. The ends of the tabs are sewn to the opposite sides of the gap after the rest of the hat is complete. It’s surprisingly simple, quick, and a great project to use up some scraps.

This will be an easy pattern for intermediate and advanced knitters, but it would be appropriate for a beginner knitter who has a few other projects under their belt and is looking for a new adventure (and maybe a way to use up scrap yarn). I’ve written the direction for an adult size but using worsted, DK, and fingering weight yarns; you can adjust your own sizing from there.

While I’ve used color-coding to help call out the different sizes, colorblind knitters should be able print a legible version of this pattern in black and white. (If not, or for any mistakes found, please contact me, and I will be happy to help.)
