Product Description

If you love teapots (and steaming cups of tea) as much as I do, this teapot warmer will prolong your delight, for both your eyes and your palate. This one is named after an early-1900's song, "My Cozy Corner Girl." (Constructed bottom up like a sweater, in the round to the "armholes", flat front/back, rejoined at "neck"/ruffle edge. Either DPNs or two circs.)

Gauge: Approximately 4.5 st/in in stockinette, 5 st/in in K3P1 rib.

Sizes: Small fits approximately a 4-cup pot. Large fits an 8-14 cup pot.

Needle Size: US 8/5mm. I prefer a set of 5 long Double Pointed Needles (DPNs). However, you can alternatively use one large circular needle if you wish.

Yarn: Heavy Worsted or Aran weight wool or wool blend, 4oz.

What is Being Made

The Cozy Corner Teapot Sweater, also known as a tea cosy, is a decorative knitted covering designed to fit over a teapot. This beginner-friendly project from ColorJoy by LynnH provides a functional yet charming accessory that helps retain heat in a teapot while adding a cozy, handmade touch to any kitchen or dining space.

Craft and Primary Technique

Knitting is the primary craft used throughout this project. Knitting is a textile creation method that uses two needles to loop yarn into interlocking rows of stitches, building fabric from the ground up. This technique is ideal for creating structured, stretchy garments and accessories that conform to three-dimensional shapes like a teapot.

Stitches Used

While the PDF content is partially obscured, the pattern employs fundamental knitting stitches appropriate for a beginner-level project. Standard knit and purl stitches form the foundation of the construction, allowing new knitters to develop essential skills while completing a practical, wearable item.

Materials

  • Yarn Weight: Aran weight yarn is used for this project. Aran is a medium-weight yarn that provides good stitch definition and works up relatively quickly, making it suitable for beginners while producing a fabric with appropriate thickness and insulation properties for a tea cosy.
  • Needles: Knitting needles appropriate for aran weight yarn are required to complete this pattern.

Difficulty Level

This pattern is rated as beginner difficulty, making it an excellent choice for those new to knitting who want to create a functional, gift-worthy project without advanced techniques or complex shaping.

Designer and Format

This downloadable PDF pattern is designed by ColorJoy by LynnH, an independent designer. The digital format allows for immediate access and easy printing for reference while working on your tea cosy.
