Provided a good idea, but pattern was silly.. almost no direction. Even the finishing Pom pom was not part ofv the instruction which was minimal. Was like paying to look at an idea.

I made this blanket using most of the colours in my yarn stash. We all need happy colours right now and this blanket was really fun to design. Using pom poms on each of the four corners adds a fun element. You could use multi coloured pom poms but I like the less is more option using the Fuscia Purple for a pop of colour.
The Colour Me Happy blanket is a beginner-friendly crochet lap blanket designed by Amanda Hurrell. This downloadable PDF pattern creates a finished blanket measuring approximately 103 x 103cm, making it an ideal size for a cozy lap throw. The design emphasizes vibrant color work and is specifically created as a stash-busting project, allowing crafters to use multiple yarn colors from their existing supplies while creating a bold, cheerful finished piece.
This project produces a square lap blanket featuring a colorful main body with a coordinating border and decorative pom-pom embellishments. The blanket is designed to be both functional and visually striking, with the option to customize colors based on available yarn in your stash.
The Colour Me Happy blanket uses fundamental crochet techniques suitable for beginners. While the PDF content does not specify the exact stitch pattern used throughout the blanket body, the construction incorporates basic crochet stitches combined with color changes to create visual interest. The border is intentionally kept simple to maintain the beginner-friendly nature of the project, and pom-pom embellishments are added as a finishing touch in a statement color that coordinates with the final border row.
The designer provides a suggested color scheme using Stylecraft Special DK and Cygnet DK yarns in the following shades: Mustard, Storm Blue, Candy Floss, Buttermilk, Bluebell, Fuschia, Purple, Duck Egg, and Camel. Notably, Bluebell from Cygnet DK (shade 149) can be substituted for Bluebell in Stylecraft Special DK (shade 108). However, the pattern encourages customization—crafters are welcome to substitute these colors with alternatives from their yarn stash, making this an excellent project for using up leftover yarn.
Rated as a beginner project, the Colour Me Happy blanket is accessible to crocheters new to the craft. The straightforward construction, simple border, and basic stitch work make it an ideal first blanket project while still producing a visually impressive and colorful finished piece.
The completed blanket is machine washable at 40 degrees, with a cool tumble dry option. It can be cool ironed or dry cleaned if preferred. The designer notes that she line dries her blanket, which is an alternative care method that may extend the life of the finished piece.
