Chianti Shawl

The colours in the Misti Alpaca yarn that I used for this pattern reminded me of the Chianti region of Tuscany, which I absolutely adore. The greens of the olives and the rosemary, the purples of the lavender and the irises, and, of course, the burgundy of the wine.

The shawl is knit side-to-side in garter stitch, using increases and decreases to produce the asymmetrical vortex shape that makes the stripes appear on the bias. There are both charts and written instructions for the lace sections.
