This is a corner to corner crochet version of my Letter E chart, this version includes a c2c picture chart and a colour-coded written version for those who prefer to follow worded instructions. I have also included a "how to corner to corner crochet" guide for those who might not have crocheted an image. The guide also has a border option for those who may want to add a decorative edge to their finished blanket.
The finished blanket will be a different size depending on the yarn you use (using 4ply gives you a lovely baby blanket size)

C2C - Letter E - Corner to Corner Blanket Pattern
Project Overview
This is a Corner to Corner (C2C) crochet blanket featuring the letter E as a picture chart design. Created by designer EJHeywood from Instarsia, this downloadable PDF pattern allows crafters to create a personalized blanket or throw with a bold typographic element. The pattern uses a picture chart format that guides stitchers through the color work needed to form the letter design.
What You'll Make
You will create a blanket or throw using the corner-to-corner crochet technique. The finished piece features the letter E worked in contrasting colors, with the chart indicating a White base color and Denim accent color. The chart dimensions span 82 rows by 39 stitches, providing the grid structure for your color work. This makes an ideal personalized gift, nursery decoration, or decorative throw for any space.
Crochet Technique: Corner to Corner (C2C)
Corner to Corner crochet is a modern technique that builds a blanket diagonally from one corner to the opposite corner. Rather than working in traditional rows, you create small squares that expand and contract to form the overall shape. This method is particularly effective for picture charts and graphgan designs because you can easily follow a pixel-based chart to create images and patterns. The C2C technique produces a fabric with excellent stitch definition, making color changes and picture details crisp and clear.
Stitches Used
Corner to Corner crochet primarily uses double crochet stitches worked in small blocks or clusters. The technique typically involves:
- Double crochet (dc) - the primary stitch that forms the fabric
- Chain stitches (ch) - used to create the spaces and structure within each block
- Slip stitches (sl st) - for joining and color changes
The repetitive block structure creates a consistent, grid-like fabric that aligns perfectly with the picture chart provided.
Materials Required
This pattern calls for DK weight yarn in two colors: White and Denim. The chart indicates yardage requirements of 840 yards for the primary color and 876 yards for the secondary color, though actual yardage may vary based on your finished blanket size and tension. You will need an appropriate crochet hook for DK yarn (typically a size E/3.5mm to F/3.75mm hook, depending on your tension preferences). The DK weight yarn creates a blanket with good drape and a refined stitch appearance suitable for display pieces.
Difficulty Level
This pattern is rated as intermediate difficulty. While the Corner to Corner technique itself is accessible to crocheters with basic skills, successfully following a picture chart and managing color changes requires attention to detail and familiarity with reading crochet charts. Crafters should be comfortable with consistent tension and color work before attempting this project.
Pattern Format and Usage
This is a downloadable PDF pattern featuring a picture chart. The chart is designed to be interchangeable and can be used for multiple crochet and knitting techniques beyond corner-to-corner crochet. According to the designer, Instarsia patterns can be adapted for traditional crochet, knitting, or other fiber arts projects. The PDF includes the numbered chart grid (82 rows × 39 stitches) with color coding to guide your stitch placement.
