What is Being Made

The Burrard Inlet Pullover is a top-down knit sweater designed by Jenny Faifel. This downloadable knitting pattern creates a classic pullover with a fitted yoke and body, available in seven size options ranging from 32.45 inches to 50+ inches bust measurement. The design features a two-color colorwork option, with the sample shown in Ash and Snow colorways.

Construction Technique

This pullover employs a top-down in-the-round construction method, a popular technique that allows knitters to try on the garment as they work and easily adjust length. The pattern begins with the yoke, which is worked first using circular needles. Once the underarms are reached, the sleeves are separated from the body. The body is then continued all the way down to the hem in the round. After the body is complete, the sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round down to the cuffs, eliminating the need for seaming.

Yarn and Materials

Yarn Fiber: Hinterland Range yarn blend of 50% Wool and 50% Alpaca, providing warmth and softness. The yarn is worsted or aran weight, approximately 200 yards per 100 grams per skein.

Yardage Requirements: Main color (MC) requires 725 to 1,350 yards depending on size, while contrast color (CC) requires 95 to 200 yards. The sample shown uses Ash as the main color and Snow as the contrast color.

Needles: The pattern calls for US#6/4.00 mm circular needles (16 inches/40 cm) for the neck ribbing, and US#7/4.50 mm needles for the main body and sleeves. The larger needle size accommodates both 24-inch/60 cm and 16-inch/40 cm circular needles or double-pointed needles as needed for different sections.

Additional Tools: Two pieces of scrap yarn for holding stitches, several stitch markers for tracking pattern repeats and shaping, and a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Difficulty Level
