Brim it on Hat by Rachy Knits
What is Being Made
The Brim it on Hat is a casual, unisex knitted hat pattern designed by Rachel Kleynhans of Rachy Knits. This downloadable PDF pattern is suitable for all ages, stages, and genders, from infants through adults. The hat features a distinctive double brim design that offers versatility in styling—the brim can be folded up for a more fitted silhouette or worn down for a slouchy, relaxed appearance. The design prioritizes comfort and flexibility, making it an ideal everyday hat for various occasions and seasons.
Techniques Used
This knitting pattern employs ribbed construction as its primary structural technique, which creates the hat's signature super stretchy quality. The ribbed design provides both comfort and flexibility, allowing the hat to accommodate a range of head sizes without requiring precise gauge adherence. The double brim construction adds visual interest and functional versatility, enabling wearers to customize the fit and aesthetic by adjusting how the brim is worn.
Stitches Used
The pattern utilizes a 1:1 rib stitch throughout the hat construction. This fundamental ribbing technique alternates knit and purl stitches in a balanced pattern, creating the elasticity and stretch that characterizes this design. The 1:1 rib is worked consistently to maintain the hat's uniform appearance and functional stretch properties.
