Product Description
l designed this with my toddler daughter in mind. I wanted something comfortable and airy to work on the windy days of summer and right on into a relaxed top for winter. It is designed to change fit as the wearer grows so it will last for many seasons.
Beginner friendly and pattern tested.
Chart denotes finished garment size.
Use child measurements from the Craft Yarn Council (link in pattern).
This is an oversized sweater, do not size up to have room to grow.
Designed with very little seaming (top of the shoulders only) and with only 2 ends to weave in at the end if you work over the yarn tails (written into instructions).
Samples are in worsted weight. I have also used a heavier dk yarn, making sure I met gauge with it before starting. Both the yarn used in the samples in the photos, and the dk yarn I used are listed. Only one yarn is required to make this. Any worsetd or dk weight you can meet gauge with that has nice drape will work.

Breezy Days Pullover
What Is Being Made
The Breezy Days Pullover is a relaxed-fit crocheted sweater designed as a pullover-style top. Created by designer Meggie of make with meggie, this garment embodies a carefree, breezy attitude inspired by outdoor play and leisure. The pullover is designed with a young toddler in mind, specifically for a 16-month-old, making it an ideal project for creating comfortable, playful children's knitwear.
Craft and Primary Technique
Crochet is the primary technique used throughout this project. As a beginner-level pattern, the Breezy Days Pullover is accessible to newer crocheters while still delivering a polished, wearable garment. The relaxed fit of the design makes it forgiving and comfortable for both the maker and the wearer, emphasizing ease of construction and wear.
Stitches and Construction Methods
While specific stitch details are referenced in the pattern, the design utilizes fundamental crochet stitches appropriate for a beginner project. The construction method focuses on creating a simple, comfortable pullover silhouette that works well for active toddlers. The relaxed fit is achieved through thoughtful shaping and stitch selection that allows for movement and comfort during outdoor play.
Materials: Yarn and Tools
- Yarn Weight: Available in DK (Double Knit) and Worsted weights, offering flexibility based on desired drape and finished fabric weight
- Tools: Crochet hook (size appropriate to selected yarn weight)
The choice between DK and Worsted yarn allows crafters to customize the final garment's texture and warmth level while maintaining the intended relaxed fit and breezy aesthetic of the design.
